Abivax Stock Falls 32% Despite Positive Ulcerative Colitis Trial Data
By EC Assets · Published
Abivax SA shares dropped significantly after the company reported positive Phase 3 trial results for its ulcerative colitis drug. The stock declined 32% on news that rare malignancy events overshadowed otherwise solid trial data. The experimental drug, obefazimod, met the main goal of its late-stage trial. Abivax announced its Phase 3 ulcerative colitis trial met its endpoints. Clinical remission rates for the 25 mg dose were 50.8%, and 51.3% for the 50 mg dose, compared to 10.4% for placebo. Endoscopic remission was achieved by 47.7% of patients on the 50 mg dose, compared to 9.9% on placebo. The company stated obefazimod demonstrated a favorable safety profile. The positive trial results were for a drug intended to treat ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the bowel. Abivax is traded on Euronext Paris under the ticker ABVX and on NASDAQ also under ABVX. Despite the positive trial outcomes, the stock's significant drop was attributed to rare malignancy events.
