ACV Auctions Jumps 44% on $1.9 Billion Copart Takeover

ACV Auctions shares climbed significantly following a takeover agreement with Copart. The deal involves Copart acquiring ACV Auctions for $1.9 billion in cash. ACV Auctions stock surged in premarket trading on Friday. Copart has agreed to buy ACV for $10.50 per share in cash. This transaction provides the digital dealer auction platform with an implied equity value of approximately $1.9 billion. ACV Auctions, traded on NASDAQ under the ticker ACVA, saw its shares increase by 43.6% in premarket trading. Copart is listed on NASDAQ as CPRT. The acquisition allows Copart to expand into dealer wholesale auctions. Copart anticipates that the all-cash acquisition of ACV will become accretive in fiscal year 2028. The company is targeting cost reductions as part of the integration process. This follows a 12.7% increase in operating expenses per car reported previously. Jay Adair, Copart's Executive Chairman and CEO, is focusing on the ACV acquisition and integration priorities. This shift in leadership focus was noted in the fourth quarter.
