Amazon Secures Vietnam Satellite Telecom License, Plans Kuiper Deployment

Amazon has received authorization for satellite telecommunications services in Vietnam. The company is reportedly aiming to deploy its Kuiper satellite services in the country. This move positions Amazon to potentially compete with SpaceX in Vietnam's low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet market. Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology stated that Amazon aims to deploy its Kuiper satellite services in the country. This announcement followed a statement from the Ministry late on Tuesday. Amazon submitted a proposal to pilot its LEO satellite telecommunications service in Vietnam. The company plans to serve up to 600,000 subscribers, including individual users. Amazon has pledged to invest $570 million in connectivity infrastructure by 2030. This investment aims to expand Kuiper service in Vietnam. The plan includes the deployment of up to six ground stations. A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket has been shown on its launch pad carrying Amazon's Project Kuiper internet network satellites. This development signifies Amazon's expansion of Project Kuiper into the Southeast Asian country. The investment highlights Amazon's commitment to deploying its LEO satellite internet services.
