By EC Assets · Published
Dutch technology giant ASML reported record third-quarter results for 2026. The company posted €11.7 billion in total net sales and €5.0 billion in net income for the period. These results were driven by strong customer demand, higher installed-base upgrade activity, and a favorable product mix. ASML raised its full-year 2026 sales forecast, attributing the increase to soaring artificial intelligence investments boosting demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. ASML expects momentum to continue into the fourth quarter, with customers accelerating capacity plans. The company anticipates fourth-quarter 2026 total net sales between €14.2 billion and €15.2 billion. It projects full-year 2026 total net sales to be between €44 billion and €45 billion, with a gross margin around 56%. ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet stated that AI demand could outstrip chipmaking equipment supply in 2027 and 2028. The company is experiencing robust interest in its critical semiconductor tools. Customers are already expressing interest in placing orders for 2029 and 2030. ASML makes cutting-edge machines to produce semiconductor chips, making it a pivotal player in artificial intelligence. It is the only manufacturer of machines capable of providing advanced chips for AI systems worldwide. The company plans to scale up production. Despite its global success, ASML reported that Europe's share in its revenue dropped to 0% in 2026. The company sold "absolutely nothing" in Europe during 2026. ASML called on EU authorities to help create demand for European chips. ASML's earnings announcement boosted tech stocks and lifted European shares. Asian markets were mixed as tech firms attempted to recover losses from the previous day. Giants like SK Hynix, Advantest, and TSMC had experienced significant losses, pushing their stock prices back towards levels seen after their summer rout. TSMC shares rose on Wednesday as investors awaited its third-quarter earnings. Investors are monitoring upcoming earnings from key AI-linked firms. The market is also awaiting U.S. inflation data.
