Cheniere Awards $4.69 Billion LNG Expansion Deal to Bechtel

Cheniere Energy Partners has signed a $4.69 billion contract with Bechtel Energy. The agreement is for engineering, procurement, and construction services related to expanding US liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity. This expansion focuses on the Sabine Pass LNG terminal. The contract covers the first phase of the expansion project. This phase includes Train 7, which is a single train and a boil-off gas re-liquefaction unit. It also encompasses related infrastructure and necessary tie-ins to the existing Sabine Pass LNG terminal. The Sabine Pass LNG expansion specifically targets a 7 million tons per year (mn t/yr) increase in capacity. The existing facility has a capacity of 33 mn t/yr.
