Former TSMC Employee Indicted for Trade Secret Theft

A former employee of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has been indicted for trade secret theft. This comes as a Taiwan court handed down prison sentences in a separate TSMC trade secrets case involving ex, Tokyo Electron staff. Tokyo Electron's Taiwan unit stated it would not appeal the ruling in that case. One former Tokyo Electron worker received a 10, year sentence. This sentence was part of a larger case involving leaks of TSMC trade secrets. Prison terms of up to 10 years were issued by the Taiwan court in this context. TSMC has also filed a lawsuit against a former executive, alleging he took trade secrets to Intel. TSMC's stock experienced a fall following this lawsuit.
