Fortescue Faces Sexual Harassment Class Action Suit

By EC Assets · Published

Fortescue is facing a class action lawsuit alleging systemic sexual harassment, violence, and retaliation. The Australian iron ore miner was hit with the suit on Thursday. This action makes Fortescue the latest Australian miner to face such allegations. The lawsuit was filed by female workers. They allege widespread sexual harassment of women at remote mining operations. The suit claims decades of systemic sexual harassment and gender discrimination at the company's remote sites. It also alleges Fortescue failed to protect female employees and contractors in Australia from sexual discrimination, harassment, and hostile work environments. Fortescue is the world's fourth-largest iron ore miner. The company reported 22 cases of sexual harassment to Western Australia's mines safety regulator in the 2025 financial year. This figure represented a 27% decrease from the previous year. This article is intended for informational purposes only. It does not constitute investment advice.
