FTSE 100 Advances Amid Diplomacy Hopes and Dividend Forecasts
By EC Assets · Published
London stocks moved higher today, with the FTSE 100 index entering positive territory this afternoon. The index initially started with over a 100-point deficit in early trading. Bunzl led the pack, with its shares rising 5.4 percent. British stocks edged up as investors considered ongoing U.S.-Iran diplomacy. This occurred despite Washington's rejection of Tehran's Hormuz proposal. Oil prices also fell, easing concerns about potential Saudi disruption. Analysts expect the FTSE 100 to generate a record level of dividends this year. The index's constituents are forecast to pay out a combined £88.8 billion.
