Grupa Azoty Shares Fall on Fertilizer Demand Warning

Grupa Azoty shares declined 4% on Friday following a warning regarding weak fertilizer demand. The Polish chemicals firm has previously faced operational challenges due to fluctuating energy costs. Grupa Azoty reported stable revenues in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. The company saw a significant EBITDA recovery in the period. Q1 2026 EBITDA rose to PLN 317 million, up from a loss in the prior year. This recovery was primarily due to lower gas prices. Strong demand also contributed to the improved results. In the first half of 2025, Grupa Azoty posted revenue of PLN 7.14 billion. This represented a 6% year-over-year increase. The company reduced its EBITDA losses to PLN -79 million. Core EBITDA, excluding Polyolefins, turned positive at PLN 160 million. Grupa Azoty had temporarily halted production at its plants making nitrogen fertilizers, caprolactams, and nylon 6. This decision was made due to an unprecedented rise in natural gas prices. Grupa Azoty Zaklady Chemiczne Police SA engages in the manufacturing and sale of chemicals.
