JPMorgan Names New Head for North America Tech M&A

JPMorgan Chase & Co. has appointed a Bank of America executive to head its North America technology mergers and acquisitions business. The firm hired Jared Fishman for this leadership role. This personnel move follows other developments for JPMorgan. The bank is restricting lending to software companies in its private credit funds. A JPMorgan-led banking group also halted a $5.3 billion debt deal for software firm Qualtrics International. This decision came amid concerns related to artificial intelligence disruption in the software sector. JPMorgan strategists have also warned about market perceptions of the U.S. Treasury’s efforts to manage long-term borrowing costs. They stated that markets might view these efforts as lacking credibility. This could potentially increase the term premium and yields. India’s securities regulator issued an interim order against a JPMorgan Chase & Co. unit. Market watchers see this swift action as a warning to traders. JPMorgan facilities totaling approximately $2.3 billion are backed by collateral. This collateral includes UWM stock and sports assets belonging to the Ishbia family. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon indicated the bank will hire fewer bankers and more "AI people." Dimon expects artificial intelligence to reduce some jobs in the future.
