Microsoft, Nvidia CEOs to Unveil AI Laptop in San Francisco

Microsoft and Nvidia Chief Executive Officers are set to unveil a new artificial intelligence laptop. The announcement will take place at an event in San Francisco today, October 7, 2026. This event is expected to provide fresh details about the Surface Laptop Ultra. Microsoft's fall event will also cover the next chapter for Windows. Updates regarding the future of Copilot are also anticipated. Microsoft is holding a Windows event on October 7 in San Francisco, which will discuss local AI, RTX Spark PCs, and Surface Laptop Ultra availability. A Microsoft employee defended Copilot, stating that most people use it. This employee cited 30 million paid seats for the service. Microsoft also confirmed its annual developer conference, Build 2026, for June. Build 2026 dates are confirmed as June 2 and 3, and it will return to San Francisco. San Francisco is also scheduled to host Microsoft Ignite in November 2025. This marks the first time the tech giant brings its flagship conference to the city. Separately, Microsoft acquired Metaswitch from Francisco Partners. No financial terms of this acquisition were disclosed. Metaswitch develops communications software products and solutions that power voice, data, and unified services. Elon Musk's SpaceX is reportedly in discussions with banks and investors.
