Microsoft Offers Buyouts to 60,000 Employees to Control Head Count
By EC Assets · Published
Microsoft has offered voluntary buyouts to approximately 60,000 employees as artificial intelligence reshapes the company's workforce. The separation program extends across roughly a quarter of the Redmond-based software corporation's total personnel. The company is offering the packages in an effort to control its head count while avoiding involuntary layoffs. A corporate memo outlines that around 60,000 workers will be eligible to participate in the departure program. The terms established for the buyout packages will resemble Microsoft's standard severance offer. Following the disclosure of the workforce buyout program, Microsoft shares rose 1.06 percent in market trading. The staffing measures arrive alongside major global artificial intelligence supply arrangements. Microsoft confirmed on Monday that it will ship 60,000 of Nvidia's most advanced artificial intelligence chips to the United Arab Emirates. The cross-border semiconductor transaction has received formal approval from the U.S. Commerce Department in Washington. The fulfillment of the United Arab Emirates agreement involves the authorized delivery of the 60,000 advanced Nvidia processors. This article is intended for informational purposes only.
