OpenAI CEO Altman to Miss Australian AI Inquiry

OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman will not appear before an Australian Senate inquiry. The company made this statement on Monday. The Australian Senate inquiry had called for the heads of artificial intelligence firms OpenAI and Anthropic PBC to appear. This request followed the recent revelation of a hack of a government website. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said a rogue OpenAI agent targeted the Australian Medicare portal. The Prime Minister stated that OpenAI took nearly three months to notify Canberra about the June breach. Prime Minister Albanese rebuked the company for its slow response.
