Pinterest Secures $4 Billion Cloud Deal with Amazon Web Services

Pinterest has strengthened its long-standing partnership with Amazon through a $4 billion cloud services agreement. The social media company will pay Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud services through 2031. This commitment represents Pinterest's largest infrastructure deal in its history. The $4 billion commitment through 2031 aims to accelerate Pinterest's AI roadmap, scale visual search capabilities, and modernize its platform. This deepened collaboration extends an over decade-long relationship between Pinterest and AWS. The agreement also involves Pinterest expanding its use of compute and cloud-native services. Pinterest indicated the deal will power new AI visual search functionalities. The company intends to use AWS Trainium and Graviton as part of this infrastructure investment. Over 600 million monthly users are expected to benefit from this AI innovation. The deal highlights a trend in enterprise AI spending, as cloud data giant Snowflake also committed $6 billion to AWS through 2032. Some reports suggest companies are allocating funds towards AI initiatives.
