Schneider Electric Acquires Cognite for $3.1 Billion; Aker Sees Major Proceeds

Schneider Electric has announced an agreement to acquire Cognite Holding B.V. for $3.1 billion in an all-cash transaction. This acquisition includes 100% of Cognite Holding B.V. Aker, a Norwegian investment firm and early backer of Cognite, expects to receive approximately $1.48 billion in cash proceeds from the deal. The transaction is valued at $3.1 billion. Schneider Electric states it will acquire 100 percent of Cognite's share capital in an all-cash deal. Morningstar also reported Schneider Electric's definitive agreement to buy Cognite for $3.1 billion. The deal follows Aker's approximately 20 times return on its invested capital. Aker helped found Cognite in 2017. The firm anticipates about $1.48 billion in cash proceeds, including the settlement of an outstanding amount. Schneider Electric's acquisition of Cognite is regarded as a strategic move to expand its operations. The French multinational stated in a press release it would pay $3.1 billion for all of Cognite.
