Sig Sauer Faces Product Liability Lawsuit Over Pistol Firing Incident
Sig Sauer must respond to a product liability lawsuit filed by an upstate New York police detective. The detective claims his department-issued pistol inadvertently fired, causing injury, a federal appeals court ruled. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan revived claims related to the incident. Michael Colwell, a detective with the Troy Police Department, stated his P320 semi-automatic pistol discharged in June 2021. He sustained a leg injury. The detective asserted the gun was holstered and he never touched the trigger when it fired. A divided federal appeals court issued the ruling on Thursday.
