Uber Dismisses $453 Million London Taxi Lawsuit

By EC Assets · Published

Uber has successfully moved to dismiss a significant lawsuit filed by London taxi drivers. The ride-hailing company announced on Monday that it won its bid to throw out two linked lawsuits. These claims sought approximately £340 million, equivalent to $453 million, from Uber. The lawsuits were brought by thousands of London black cab drivers. Two former minicab companies were also involved in bringing the claims. The High Court ruled in Uber's favor, determining that the plaintiffs had waited too long to sue the ride-hailing giant. Uber has experienced a complex relationship with London since its arrival in 2012. The company has faced resistance from the city’s black cabs and transit authorities. London represents Uber's largest European market. In related developments, Uber and Pony.ai plan to introduce robotaxi tests in London soon. The companies stated on Thursday that they would begin testing Pony.ai's Gen-7 robotaxis in the coming weeks. This initiative will join Wayve in the autonomous vehicle sector within London.
