By EC Assets · Published
Warburg Pincus has increased its takeover bid for Ingenia Communities Group. The U.S. private equity firm and its affiliates raised their proposal for the Australian retirement living and holiday company. Ingenia Communities Group shares jumped Monday following the improved offer. Ingenia's board will assess the new, higher takeover bid. The company said on Monday it was reviewing an improved A$2.14 billion buyout offer from Warburg Pincus. This offer values Ingenia Communities at about $1.50 billion. Warburg Pincus previously submitted two earlier bids that Ingenia rejected. Ingenia Communities rejected an unsolicited offer to take over the property group for AU$1.94 billion. The company stated that this proposal "substantially undervalues" it. Ingenia also rejected a sweetened A$5.05 per share offer from Warburg Pincus and its affiliates, stating that bid undervalued the Australian developer. Following the latest bid, shares in Ingenia Communities climbed to an early high of $4.82. The new A$2.14 billion offer equates to $5.25 per share.
