EC Assets Brings Clients Together at the Wimbledon Championships in London

By EC Assets · Published · Updated

For two weeks each summer, a quiet corner of south west London becomes the centre of the sporting world.

The Championships at Wimbledon are the oldest tennis tournament in the world, first played in 1877 and still shaped by rituals that have barely changed across generations. Grass courts. Players in white. Strawberries and cream. Queues that begin before dawn. In an industry that measures everything in milliseconds, there is something reassuring about an event that refuses to hurry.

This year marks the 139th edition, held from 29 June to 12 July at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. During the opening week, EC Assets welcomed clients and partners to SW19 for a day at the tournament, a short journey from the firm's London office.

The setting did most of the work.

Guests followed the tennis as the draws took shape, and found time between matches for the conversations that rarely fit into a scheduled call. Markets came up, as they always do. So did families, summer plans and some confident predictions for the second week.

That was the point.

Much of institutional investing happens through screens, reports and quarterly updates. All of it necessary. None of it sufficient. Trust is built in person, in unhurried settings, where questions can be asked without an agenda and answered without a slide deck.

A day at Wimbledon offers exactly that. The tennis provides the occasion. The time together provides the value.

Our thanks go to everyone who joined us. As the second week gets under way and the titles come into view, the team will follow the closing days with particular interest, and with a few of those predictions in mind.

Championships are decided in a fortnight. Relationships are built over years.
