Meta and Tesla Report Third Quarter Results Tonight After the US Close
By EC Assets · Published · Updated
Two of the market's largest companies report on the same evening.
Meta and Tesla both publish third quarter results after the US close today, with Meta's call at 4:30 pm New York time. Tesla's call follows at 5:30 pm.
Meta guided to revenue of $61 billion to $64 billion for the quarter. The reported figures will also carry a legal expense of around $10 billion, tied to its settlement with US state attorneys general over youth safety.
For many investors, the bigger question is spending. Meta expects 2026 capital expenditure of $130 billion to $145 billion. Attention will fall on whether the AI build is starting to pay its way.
Tesla arrives with a different backdrop. Analysts expect revenue roughly flat on a year ago and lower earnings per share, after an operating margin of just 1.4% in the second quarter. Third quarter deliveries already came in above consensus. Updates on the Cybercab fleet in Austin are also on the list.
The call now carries an extra item. On SpaceX's earnings call last night, Elon Musk said the boards of both companies have formed special committees of independent directors to consider a combination.
At EC Assets, we will be following both calls closely, with Meta's spending plans and any comment on the merger process at the top of the list.
Tonight brings the numbers. The questions that shape the next quarter will be answered on the calls.
