This settlement aims to resolve thousands of U.S. lawsuits alleging that the company's Roundup weedkiller causes cancer. The Missouri judge will assess the deal against objections raised by some plaintiffs' attorneys. These attorneys contend that the current framework shortchanges their clients. The legal challenge to the proposed settlement remains in Missouri state court. Bayer, a pharmaceutical and agricultural-science giant, previously cleared a legal hurdle regarding this settlement. The Eighth Circuit rejected an objectors' challenge to the $7.25 billion Roundup settlement. A Missouri court had earlier granted Bayer's request to postpone a hearing. That hearing was rescheduled to September 14 to consider the proposed class settlement. The U.S. Supreme Court has also weighed in on related matters.
