IDP Education Rejects Blackstone Takeover Offer

Australia's IDP Education rejected a takeover proposal from Blackstone. The offer was valued at approximately A$694.7 million ($493.79 million). IDP stated that the approach substantially undervalued the company. Blackstone has demonstrated recent interest in the Australian market. The private equity firm announced its acquisition of HSBC Bank Australia Ltd.'s AU$36 billion ($25 billion) home and personal loan portfolio. Blackstone also agreed to buy Hamilton Island, a resort hub in the Great Barrier Reef. This deal is subject to regulatory approval. The firm is assessing fresh acquisition opportunities in Australia and India. Blackstone exited its investment in Bumble, selling its stake and giving up its seats on the dating app's board.
