Saab Finalizes $4.83 Billion Submarine Contract with Poland

Saab secured a contract with Poland for the production and delivery of three A26-type submarines. The order has an approximate value of SEK 47 billion, equivalent to $4.83 billion. This agreement was signed on Monday with the Polish State Treasury Armaments Agency. The submarines are designated as A26-class, built by Sweden's Saab Kockums. Poland's submarine program is known as Orka. The first submarine is expected to arrive in Poland in 2030. The contract signing occurred in Gdynia. The deal involves the Swedish defense giant Saab. The prime ministers of Poland and Sweden met in Gdynia to finalize the contract. The contract is estimated at roughly 20 billion zloty. Poland is set to buy these stealth submarines from Sweden to counterbalance Russia. Sweden will supply three A26 submarines to Poland to strengthen its military.
