SK Hynix Shares Rally on Chip Optimism

By EC Assets · Published

SK hynix shares surged in Seoul, building on a rally in U.S. chip stocks. The memory chip maker's stock gained 8% in Seoul Monday. This follows an uplift in U.S. chip stocks observed last Friday. The rally in chip shares, including SK hynix, comes after OpenAI's Astra news. Goldman Sachs has also adopted a constructive stance on memory chips. This assessment contributed to higher share prices for SK Hynix, Micron, and SanDisk. SK Hynix climbed 5%, SanDisk advanced 3%, and Micron gained 2%. This occurred even as the broader market stumbled. However, a major NAND supplier issued a warning about prices, which complicates this outlook. Investors are still not giving up on stocks, despite rising bond yields and oil prices. Analysts favor SK hynix Inc. over Micron Technology, Inc. This preference is based on a valuation gap, SK hynix's HBM leadership, ongoing buybacks, and potential 2027 pricing upside. Upcoming market movements include a potentially slightly lower open today.
