By EC Assets · Published
Wall Street's main indexes opened muted on Monday as investors watched oil prices. This occurred ahead of crucial bank earnings and inflation data due later in the week. Oil prices jumped at the market open. Big banks are scheduled to kick off the third-quarter earnings season on Tuesday. These bank earnings will offer an initial insight into the economy's health within a rising-yield environment. Wall Street analysts are already adjusting their positions, with several upgrades, downgrades, and new initiations across various companies. UnitedHealth (UNH) stock traded near $379 ahead of its Q3 earnings, which are due on Tuesday. Wall Street expects earnings per share (EPS) of $4.15 for UnitedHealth. Options data imply a 7% price movement for UnitedHealth stock. Interactive Brokers (IBKR) also has Q3 earnings upcoming. Wall Street analysts have provided estimates for its key metrics for the quarter ended September 2026. Bank7 (BSVN) is another company for which Wall Street has issued Q3 earnings forecasts, including top-and-bottom-line estimates and key metric projections. S&P 500 earnings are forecast to increase this year at their fastest rate since 2021. Earnings in 2021 had soared after recovering from the pandemic. However, Wall Street expects the S&P 500's earnings growth rate to at least be cut in half in 2027. Beyond corporate earnings, inflation data is also on tap for the week. India's retail inflation climbed to 5.54% in September, exceeding estimates. This strengthens the case for further interest rate hikes in India. In the United States, winter heating costs are projected to be 8.3% higher than last year. Expensive utility bills have become a significant burden for American consumers. This week's crucial bank earnings reports and inflation data will provide key insights into the economic landscape. Investors will closely monitor these releases for indications of economic trends and corporate performance. This article is intended for informational purposes only.
