American Express has agreed to acquire TheFork, Tripadvisor's restaurant booking platform, in a $700 million deal. Tripadvisor stated the transaction is an all-cash deal. The proposed acquisition expands American Express's operations in Europe. Tripadvisor, Inc. operating under the stock ticker TRIP, announced the agreement. TheFork is described as a European online restaurant reservation and management platform. American Express seeks to expand its restaurant network and boost its restaurant business in Europe. The deal values TheFork at $700 million. This figure was also reported as 602.8 million euros by one source. Tripadvisor anticipates minimal tax costs from the sale. The transaction is expected to close before the end of 2026. Tripadvisor has entered into a put option agreement for the sale of TheFork.
