FAA Grants Boeing Waiver for 777F Freighter Sales Past 2028

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Boeing a waiver for upcoming aircraft emissions requirements. This approval allows Boeing to sell additional 777F freighters beyond 2028. The waiver was approved on Thursday, September 17. The FAA's decision permits 35 more 777F freighters to receive first airworthiness certificates. These certificates can be issued from 2028 through 2031. Boeing had sought this emissions waiver. The exemption is a three-year waiver. The U.S. planemaker can sell these additional 35 Boeing 777F freighters after 2028. This move provides a bridge for the GE90 engine, which powers the 777F. New emissions regulations commence in 2028. National Airlines recently took delivery of its fourth Boeing 777-200 Freighter. This aircraft, N798CA, was received at Boeing's Everett production facility in Washington.
